It's early in the morning of Friday the 9th of August 2019 and the sun is already burning through the sky and temperature rising... it's looking like the perfect day for a wedding.
In truth I'm a little bit nervous at this point because even though Rick and Karen are close friends this is my first ever gig as a wedding photographer. I'm putting the pressure on to make sure I capture all of the important moments of the day including the group photos and portraits... you only get one chance!
It's approaching noon and all of the guests are arriving at Chadkirk Chapel in Romiley ahead of the ceremony around 1pm. The weather is still holding up his end of the bargain and all the guests are in great spirits.
The bride and groom's beloved golden retriever Mylo had to have an important role at the Chapel ceremony so he was designated as the ring barer. He enjoyed his moment of fame running down the isle with the rings strapped to his collar. Setting off at a sprint he was a tricky moving target to photograph!
For the wedding breakfast and party everyone relocated to Romiley cricket club as the venue for the rest of the day. The bride, groom, and many of their family and friends already have a strong social scene down at Romiley cricket club so it was a comfortable choice of venue. It's an affordable venue to hire so worth a look up online if you're looking for a reception location near you.
With the sun still shining the guests stayed outside, hanging out on the grass enjoying a few drinks at the club to the sound of a brass band performing on the terrace. A spot of cricket was even played... with the bride having a go too making for some fun photos.
Eventually some very intense thunderstorms broke out of nowhere late in the afternoon. Escaping the rain the party moved hurriedly inside the venue for the wedding breakfast and speeches. No amount of rain or lightning couldn't dampen spirits thanks to further indoor entertainment from an acoustic duo and top DJ.
It really was a fantastic day full of high spirits, great speeches and lots of laughter and a pleasure to be a part of such special friends' wedding.
